![]() While I can say that my floors are now much cleaner on average, there are definitely a few quirks about owning a robot vacuum that I think are worth mentioning if you're in a similar situation. I’ve been using the Q5+ for just about two weeks now, and prior to that I had never owned or used a robot vacuum. The Roborock Q5+ is a robot vacuum that will clean your floors exactly when and where you tell it to. What is it like to actually have a Q5+ in your house and incorporate it into your cleaning routine? The short answer is that it works mostly. There is a lot you can do with the mapping and the app in general, so we'll come back to that later and move on to the other features of the robot. Once it's finished mapping, it will dock itself and you can inspect and edit the map yourself. You can watch in real-time in the app as the robot maps out your home. On your Q5’s maiden voyage, it will drive around in seemingly random directions with its LiDAR system spinning and whirring the whole time. This navigation system is extremely sophisticated and justifies requiring an app to use the robot. The LiDAR system is what the robot uses to create a map of your home’s floor plan and navigate around obstacles. You can see this system spinning while the robot cleans. This fake button is actually the robot’s Light Detection and Ranging system (or LiDAR). In the center of the robot looks like what might be a giant button. ![]() So why don’t we just take a look at the most obvious one first? So many in fact, that it’s difficult to even know where to start. But I still have the problem of the robot looking for the dock on the second floor, not finding it, then searching all the rooms to find it.Ĭan you please point me to a documented procedure for multi-level cleaning that considers the above issues. There is no shortage of features on the Q5+. I'll resort to cleaning the second floor in sections (i.e. It returned back to the top of the stairs, couldn't find the dock, it let me know that, then it started to search for it in all the rooms rather than waiting for me to collect it. I experimented today with extending the return-to-dock time so that the robot didn't need to return to the dock when cleaning the second floor, and I did a full clean. return to the top of the stairs, I carry it down and place it mop side first into the dock for cleaning, then I carry it back up to the top of the stairs. I was expecting the robot to remember how much it had cleaned on the second floor, and facilitate it's return to the dock for cleaning. Given that it's no longer possible to by docks independently, is this the company supported suggestion? No way I'm lugging the dock to the second floor every time I want to clean. Please wait until it completed the cleaning, and don't manually move the robot or interrupt the docking station has remained in the same spot on the main floor. The robot will speak "Starting to clean". Make sure the robot is now located on the other floor. ![]() When you plan to create the map for the second floor, please make sure there's WIFI coverage there.ĥ.
